6 Steps to a Successful Facebook Business Page

With 2.45 billion monthly active users, Facebook continues to be the champ of social media marketing, gaining the number 1 spot. It has emerged as one of the biggest marketing platforms, with 80 million small businesses operating through business pages. It’s an avenue where not only people connect and share, but marketers too are keen to invest. Undeniably, Facebook has connected more people with businesses in recent times. Looking at its continuous growth, we have come up with a series on Facebook Marketing.

Well, we have already posted one on the importance of Facebook Marketing. If you haven’t seen it, give it a quick read here. And now in this blog, we will help you set up a Facebook page that will serve as a digital home for your business. So, let’s begin:

6 Steps to a Successful Facebook Business Page

Log into your personal Facebook account before you begin setting up your Facebook Business page. Let’s dive into the page creation steps.

Step 1: Sign up

Go to facebook.com/pages/create.

Start with selecting the type of page from the categories available: business/brand or community/public figure. Fill in your business information such as brand name, a brief description of your business, and so on. In case your business falls in more than one category, pick the common one that people would think of.

After this, you will have to add in some more details, like your address and phone number. Click continue to give an acceptance of Facebook’s Pages, Groups, and Events Policies on your part.

Step 2. Add Pictures

Add profile and cover photo to create a good impression. Make sure the photos you choose align well with your brand ideology, and don’t forget to add your brand logo as a profile image. It will help your customers find your brand on Facebook. The apt measurements for Facebook profile photos include 170 x 170 pixels on a desktop and 128 x 128 pixels on mobile. Apart from this, the right measurements of the Facebook cover photo are 820 x 312 pixels on desktop or 640 x 360 pixels on mobile. So, the image should be 720 x 315 pixels.

Step 3: Create your username

Your username guides your customers to find your brand on Facebook. You can create a username up to 50 characters long, but we would recommend you to keep it as short as possible as it is easier to remember. You need to click Create Page @Username in the left menu. As you click to create a username, you will see a box popping up with the links people can use to connect with your brand.

Step 4: Add your business details

Now the time has come to add in a little more details in your About section. Well, you might be tempted to leave it for later, but you shouldn’t ignore the significance it holds. As a customer, you would also go to the about us section of any other brand to gather more information.

So, click Edit Page Info in the top menu and start filling in your business details that may include:

Add in a couple of sentences having a length of a maximum of 255 characters. It will give an idea about what you do to your customers. However, you don’t need to be elaborative, short information is what is needed.

Here you will get to see the category you entered in Step 1 in which you can add more categories. It will help to get your brand exposed to all the relevant audiences, especially when your business falls in more than one category.

Here you need to add all the contact details that you want to make public, which may include your phone number, website, and email.

If you have a physical storefront or office, get your location marked correctly on the map. You can also add more details about your service area. So, people would know in which areas you deliver your services.

Here you need to add in the correct hours your business is open for services because this is crucial information that appears in search results as well.

Extra options

You can add a little more information such as price range, and privacy policy link.

After you are done with all the information, click Save Changes under each section to wrap up.

Step 5. Tell your story

After you are done filling in all the information, it’s time to tell your part of the story in a detailed manner. You will get to access it by clicking See more in the left menu, then About, and then Our Story on the right-hand side. Here you can add a detailed description of your offerings and give them a solid reason to Like or Follow your Page. You can give a catchy headline with a relevant photo that resonates with your brand ideology. After you are done, click Publish.

Step 6. Create your first post

Now that you are done with setting up your page, begin with creating some engaging posts for your customers that present you as a thought leader in the market. Make sure that the content should be relevant, engaging, simple, informative, and valuable. It will help them to distinguish what’s special in your brand. You can create an event or offer a post by clicking on the create box at the top of the page. Publish your page by hitting the big green Publish Page button in the left-hand menu. And, then invite your audience to like, follow, and share.
